This project was devised as a low cost membrane over an existing terrace. This folded surface plane forms a roof for a cafe with a kitchen and some services. Acting as breakout area for co-living units in the floors below, the intervention covers the terrace in a way so as to shade it from the weather. Yet, allowing sun and air movement be a part of the design environment. A triangulated column frame supports the roof centrally by serving as a design prop. Visually, this rooftop bamboo envelope mimics an abstraction of a perching bird.
